Individual Therapy in Oklahoma and California
Do you feel like you're carrying the same weight, again and again, without knowing quite how to put it down? Individual therapy is space that's entirely yours – no one else's schedule, no one else's needs – to work through whatever's in front of you, at your own pace.
Who This Helps
Individual therapy here is for ages 11 and up, from tweens and teens through adults. Common reasons people come in include:
- A specific life transition, like a marriage, a divorce, a new job, college, retirement, or becoming a parent
- Anxiety and panic that's hard to shake
- A mood disorder, like depression or bipolar disorder
- Grief and loss
- Recovering from narcissistic abuse or domestic violence
- Trauma and PTSD from physical, sexual, or emotional abuse
- Eating disorders, or body image and self-esteem struggles
- OCD
- Women's issues, including fertility, pregnancy, and miscarriage
- Sexual or gender identity questions
- Spiritual questions, or a sense that something bigger is missing
- Managing a medical diagnosis
- Bullying
- Support around a specific life goal, without a crisis driving it
Whatever brought you here, we'll build a plan around your specific situation.
If Something's Holding You Back From Starting
Some people worry that focusing on themselves is selfish, or have a hard time even naming what they need, especially if that wasn't allowed growing up. If you've been hurt before, it makes sense that trusting someone new with this feels like a risk. Some people have spent so long being the one everyone else leans on that receiving help themselves feels unfamiliar, even uncomfortable. And if you grew up around family beliefs that dismissed mental health, or you're a man who's picked up the message that needing support isn't something people like you do, that hesitation is real, and it doesn't mean therapy isn't for you.
My Approach
In my experience, what someone first names as the problem, anxiety, stress, a relationship in crisis, is rarely the whole story. More often than not, once we've been working together a while, it turns out to be something underneath: a nervous system that's been mis-wired by years of stress or old trauma, a lack of self-worth or self-love that's been there so long it feels normal, or patterns rooted in childhood that never got addressed. Naming that early doesn't mean we skip the thing you came in for, it just means we're not surprised when the real work turns out to be a layer deeper.
My approach blends traditional talk therapy with body-based and holistic methods – CBT alongside EMDR, transpersonal work & meditation and visualization techniques – depending on what you need. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all process, so we'll spend our first few sessions understanding what's actually going on before deciding which tools make the most sense for you. Some people want a structured, skills-based approach; others want more room to explore what's underneath a pattern. Together we'll figure out what's actually going to help you move forward.
Family Therapy
We can include family members, to do some family therapy as needed. As you grow individually some family dynamics may try to stay stuck in outdated patterns. It is helpful to address these shifting dynamics so that you can feel supported by your family, and your family can understand how you are healing.
What Becomes Possible
Over time, many people notice they're reacting less and choosing more. Old patterns loosen their grip. You start to trust your own inner knowing instead of constantly second-guessing yourself, feel more able to set boundaries and protect your peace, and find it easier to speak up for what you actually need. The same situations that used to derail you stop having as much power over your day. Therapy doesn't erase what happened to you, but it can change your relationship to it, so it stops running the show.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is individual therapy different from your specialty pages, like EMDR or anxiety therapy?
They're not separate tracks. Individual therapy is the general container, and EMDR, trauma work, or anxiety-focused work often happens inside it once we know what you need. If you already know what you're looking for, you're welcome to start on that page instead.
Do you work with teens?
Yes, individual therapy is available for ages 11 and up, so tweens and teens as well as adults.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start weekly, especially early on, then move to every other week as things stabilize. We'll talk about what pace makes sense for you.
What if I'm not sure what I need help with?
That's completely normal, and a fine place to start. The first session is about understanding what's going on, not having it all figured out already.
What does individual therapy cost?
Individual sessions are $175. I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation if you'd like to talk through your needs before committing to a full session. Full rate and insurance details are on the Contact & Rates page.
Is what I share in session confidential?
Yes. What you share in session stays confidential, with the standard legal exceptions around safety that apply to any licensed therapist.
